What is Rugger Bugger?
As a 501(c3) it is our mission to provide a space for the LGBTQIA+ community to learn and play the sport of rugby. Fundraising is a huge part of ensuring we have the monetary resources to do that. The Scandals have two major fundraisers throughout the year and Rugger Bugger is one of them. For Rugger Bugger, the players come together in a variety of performances to put on a burlesque-ish talent show to help raise money for the club as a whole and help relieve some of the financial burden for the following year’s major tournament. Next year the 2026 Bingham Cup is in Brisbane and the Scandals have an opportunity to represent the DMV on a global stage. Not only representing DMV pride but showing the world that rugby is for all.
How much will Brisbane Cost?
Going to Brisbane as a team will be no easy feat. Our recent numbers indicate it will cost around $25,000 to go as a team. This includes: registration fees, hotels, equipment fees, meals, coaching & medic staff, and operational costs while being at the tournament. It’s the clubs mission to be able to provide some financial assistance to make sure we are lowering the barrier of entry.
What’s the theme?
This year our theme is Cockodile Hunters - not much left to explain really. Be sure to like, share, and stay on the look out for our Bonds inspired campaigns and Butt Magazine influenced graphics. For the after party, please come in your Y2K themed garb for a night full of fun! Hope you enjoy and see you there!
